Ultra (UVX) Resin Counterforce System: (Trade or In-Plant)

 A UV cure single part resin system that can be used with a coated polyester or fibreglass backing sheet. With 3 different resins (1Kg bottles) one for cold embossing only and two for hot embossing, with differing hardness and characteristics.

Requires a suitable UV exposure unit. For best results we recommend using the uEmboss Polydiam PEC A2 UV counterforce making machine. Apply suitable release agent on die and allow to dry. Pour Ultra resin onto die and then place an oversized coated polyester backing sheet (flexi die) or coated fibreglass backing board on top of the poured resin. Compress to level off and then UV expose for the required time. De-mould and trim, and the counterforce is ready to use. A very easy and highly recommended product for most trade and in-plant counterforce production. An excellent hot and cold counterforce for normal day to day embossing and debossing for all run lengths. Ideal product for flexi dies.

Troy (TEC) Epoxy Resin Counterforce System: (Trade)

A two-part heat cured epoxy system available in 25ml twin cartridge trial packs and 2 x 500ml bottles. This product is a 1:1 ratio mix product but has the flexibility to change the ratio to change its characteristics. The standard hardener is a ~120-minutes gel time.

The long gelling time allows for multiple dies to be prepared before placing in moulding press. The cure time is typically ~5 minutes at 90°C. The Troy system requires a vulcanizing (Moulding) press to cure and make counterforces. Apply suitable release agent on die and allow to dry. Dispense and mix equal amount of part A and B material. Degas if required, and pour into the die then place oversized pre-sanded fibreglass board on top. Place in a preheated vulcanizing moulding press and bring under pressure and allow to cure to the recommended time. Remove and allow to cool under light pressure then separate, trim off waste and you are ready to go to press.

An excellent hot & cold counterforce for normal day to day embossing and debossing for all run lengths. A uEmboss vacuum chamber or hand vacuum and or air removal devices are recommended to remove air bubbles in mixed resin before use.

Plato (PICX) Epoxy Resin Counterforce System: (In-Plant)

A two-part air cured epoxy system available in 25ml twin cartridge trial packs and 2 x 500ml bottles. This product is a 1:1 ratio mix which gels in about 5 minutes and sets in about 10-minute.

Requires pressure to form and set. Apply suitable release agent on die and allow to dry. Dispense and mix equal amount of part A and B material. Degas if required, and pour into the die then place oversized pre-sanded fibreglass board on top. Place between 2 thick plates and clamp and wait for the material to set. Remove clamps, separate, trim, use a hair dryer and heat for 5 to 10 minutes to fully cure, and then it is ready for use. An excellent hot and cold counterforce for normal day to day embossing and debossing for all run lengths. A uEmboss vacuum chamber or hand vacuum and or air removal devices are recommended to remove air bubbles in mixed resin before use.

This product can be used as an emergency counterforce making system for customers whose counterforce(s) have been lost or damaged and require urgent replacement.

Atlas Matrix (AMX) Phenolic Powder / Board Counterforce and Duplicate making System: (Trade)

Ideal low-cost system for rigid counterforces and duplicates. Very easy to make but requires a vulcanising press with around 50 Tons or more pressure. Apply suitable release agent on the die and on the matrix board and allow to dry. For counterforce, place the matrix board, moulding side against the die and suitable thickness bearer bars and place in vulcanizing moulding press. If required, phenolic powder can be added to the cavities within the image areas of the die. Mould under the required pressure, temperature and time. To make duplicates use the same instructions but add two additional matrix boards and the right height bearer bars and mould to the required pressure, temperature and time. Trim with band saw or similar to the required size and you are ready to use.

Material available in A4 size sheets and are sold as single sheets or in packs of 10. Larger sheet sizes to special order. Phenolic powder is used in conjunction with the board when fine detail (text and design) needs to be formed. You are able to use just the powder to make thinner counterforces. The counterforces made using just the powder are very hard and rigid but will crack if flexed. Using a strainer sprinkle the powder and over fill the die. Place in a preheated vulcanizing moulding press and bring under pressure and allow to cure to the recommended time. Remove and slide in a cold press under pressure and allow to cool, then separate, trim off waste with a fine tooth saw and you are ready to go to press.

A good quality vulcanizing Moulding Press is strongly recommended. A hot – cold moulding press would be ideal followed by 2 moulding presses one switched on and the other off. If neither are possible then one moulding press and some heavy thick aluminium plates will do for the cooling under pressure segment of the manufacturing process. Ideal for fine delicate embossing where a very hard counterforce is required on flatbed presses.
